a type of endocytosis in which the engulfed liquid remains within a separate vacuole noun: the transport of fluid into a cell by means of local infoldings by the cell membrane so that a tiny vesicle or sac forms around each droplet, which is then taken into the interior of the cytoplasm pinocytosis in British English noun: a method by which a cell takes in and absorbs fluid by the process of invagination followed by tightening and closing off of the cell membrane |
