a system by which the position of a ship or aircraft can be determined by its navigator by the time interval between radio signals received from two or more known stations noun: a system of long-range navigation whereby the latitude and longitude of a ship or airplane are determined from the time displacement between radio signals from two or more fixed transmitters loran in British English noun: a radio navigation system operating over long distances.
