a family of S African languages including Nama, Bushman, and Kung: an important phonological characteristic of these languages is the presence of a group of consonants known as clicks (see click (sense 3) designating or of this language family adjective: of or belonging to Khoisan noun: a family of languages found chiefly in southern Africa and including the languages of the San and the Khoikhoi Khoisan in British English adjective: denoting, relating to, or belonging to this family of languages noun: a family of languages spoken in southern Africa by the Khoikhoi and Bushmen and by two small groups in Tanzania.
