the first fluid, rich in protein, secreted by the mother's mammary glands for several days just after birth of the young noun: a yellowish liquid, esp. rich in immune factors, secreted by the mammary gland of female mammals a few days before and after the birth of their young colostrum in British English noun: the thin milky secretion from the nipples that precedes and follows true lactation.
